Self-Care Summer: 12/100

There's always something that needs to get done. There's always an appointment or a scheduled activity. When you have three kids you're never really home. Today my daughter had a hair appointment.

Normally when I'm chauffeuring these children around I sit and wait for them. Today it occurred to me that I could actually go have breakfast instead of starving until the next meal time.

I went to the nearest Panera. Once inside I found an empty booth and claimed it with my library book. This Panera was busy but not in that bad way that overstimulates you. When it was my turn at the counter I ordered the avocado toast with the green goddess drizzle.

It was good, but not great. Back in the day Panera really was the go-to spot for quick meals using clean ingredients. Today Panera felt icky. The kind of ick that comes from wiping everything down with an old wet rag. I quickly ate my toast and got out of there.

All the rain we've been getting has done wonders for my potted garden. I harvested a bell pepper to use in tonight's dinner. This chicken sausage pepper onion dish will be yummy tonight and tomorrow morning for breakfast.

It really makes me happy when I'm able cook something I've grown.

Once dinner was done I hopped on the treadmill to get my walk done. I had forgotten how good it was to be able to catch a show while walking.

I don't watch TV during the day. At night there's always some discussion about the remote so this was very relaxing to me.

And you know what? After I was done walking I didn't even want that chicken sausage dinner. I wanted to sit and scroll on my phone and eat something comforting.

I warmed up leftover taco fixings. One thing about me, I love scooping food with a tortilla chip. Each little triangle is a serving of joy.

This weekend we’ll be celebrating my son's 12th birthday. I'm not sure what to expect in terms of self-care but I'm determined to not lose my streak. Wish me luck.

See you tomorrow! 🖤✨
