Days 8 and 9 of the food challenge gave us a chance to try a soup from 28-Day Plant Powered Health Reboot and a lasagna from Thug Kitchen. I wasn't able to vlog my cooking process but here are my thoughts...

We have been meatless for a whole week? How are you feeling? What changes have you noticed?

I've been having some hi's and lows. The meals have been pretty good. Here's what I made over these past couple days...

Are dying to have a piece of meat yet? Me either. I've noticed a few changes already and we're only on day 4 of the challenge.

Here's what I'm liking about the plant based life so far...

How did day two go for you? So far, so good over here. Savannah did ask for chicken yesterday but once she tasted the deliciousness of the Baked Spanish Rice and Wilted Greens she wasn't missing her chicken at all.

Here's how day two went for us...

August is finally here! This month we have challenged ourselves to eat plant based meals for 31 days. After watching so many documentaries on food and the food industry I had to test out the "plant based is the only way" theory for myself.

What changes do you think we'll see after 31 days?

plant based meal plan
I am so excited to be sharing this month's meal plan with you! After all of my stay at home Mom research I've decided that this month will be a plant based meals month. I have chosen a vegetarian and a vegan cookbook to help us cook our way through the month.

The Importance of Bible Study for Fitness Lovers

This school year I attended bible study every Tuesday morning with the boys after school drop off. I didn't know it then but it was quite possibly one of the single most best things I could've done for myself and my fitness goals.

Here's why...

Over the past week I've watched Food Inc. and Food Choices on Netflix. You can't unsee that stuff. I don't know what got to me more. The way the food industry has changed or the way the food industry treats the animals and farmers. I wasn't ready for all that truth.

Those documentaries left me clutching my invisible pearls for dear life...

fitbit Blaze Review

fitbit blaze

Last year I only asked for one thing for Mother's Day, a fitness watch. I can't remember what I got in 2016 but I know I didn't get the one thing I asked for. This year I thought I'd ask for a fitbit Blaze again. My family surprised me with one just before Mother's Day and I am so glad they did.

Here's what I think about this stylish fitness watch...

Is it starting to feel like Summer around your way yet? I actually got a little sun glow over the weekend and it gave me all the Summer vibes. I'm so ready for school break, days at the splash pad and lots of relaxing. I. Can't. Wait.

21 Day Fix March Challenge

Today is the big day! We're starting a new 21 Day Fix challenge and I am so excited. The last time I completed this challenge I lost 11 inches, gained confidence and changed my life for the better.

My Tips for Eating Well Consistently

Between the women in my family, friends, the ladies in my bible study class and the women that attend my fitness classes I talk to a lot of women in the course of a week about getting in shape. Everyone has their own struggle with living a healthier lifestyle but the one thing I find that we all have in common is eating well. Today I want to share how I set myself up for success in the kitchen.

Fitness Accountability Log

One of the most important aspects of living a healthy lifestyle is accountability. There are so many ways to hold yourself accountable to your goals these days.

MEAL PREP TIPS: Salad Spinner

If you are on a healthy lifestyle journey you need one of these. The salad spinner is a meal prep miracle for all the salad lovers. I could literally eat a salad everyday. I'm part of that small population of people that actually loves places like Souper Salad, Cosi and Sweet Green.

Salad themed restaurants are great but I can't always go out for lunch so I like creating my own little masterpieces at home.

Activewear Style Inspiration

cute workout clothes

I never really cared to spend money on workout clothes before I started teaching fitness classes. Now that I'm an instructor I've started building an activewear wardrobe. Why are workout clothes so expensive? Are y'all really spending $80 on one pair of leggings to sweat in?

2017 GOALS

2016 wasn't all bad. There were some amazing high points. Personally, I achieved many of the goals that I set for myself and my family. But that was then. This is now.

A new year opens the door for a fresh start. New opportunities start to bloom and blossom and everyone is all abuzz with their goals and resolutions. I have a few things that I want to get done this year too. I'll share those in another post. Today I want to talk about something that I'm bringing into 2017 that I didn't quite conquer in 2016.
